NOT SLEEPING......I HATE THIS!!!.............

Sleep eludes me.....
In this night time still

Mind racing..thoughts bouncing..
Always against my will

Eyes drowsy ~~ mind alert
For the next onslaught of chatter

No solutions ~~  Just worry
Never mind over matter

Need sleep now...must rest now
Take deep breaths and release

Need sleep now....must rest now...
GOD grant me your peace.

How do you handle nights when you can't sleep?

Hugs to all you dear readers,

Jo

  1. Oh, my, those sleepless nights. Have more than a few myself. I lay there tossing and turning, watching the clock, counting the hours to the alarm. I think watching the clock only makes it worse, though. I love to put on some soft music, very low. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

  2. You can always find me prowling around at night..I am a very light sleeper but I also fall asleep fast. I actually enjoy getting up and having the house to myself. It seems the more you fight it, the harder it is.

I hope you get some good suggestions and most of all, some sleep.

    XO,
    Jane

  3. I'm just waaaay to spastic to lay there and toss and turn when there is much to be done. I just usually get up and try to do something constructive. I'm just that kinda chick! :o)

Enjoy your day and may God richly bless it!!!

  4. I have always been a horrible sleeper. Then I discovered Meletonin. It is all natural. Our bodies actually create it. I tried it,low dosage, and it works!!!!!!!!It is not addictive. It is nice to sleep:)

I know it's crazy but it works....duh duh duh the purple dragon!

  7. Dear JO, I suffer from this, as did my mother and her father. I find it helps to get up read a bit then try again. For me it only gets worse if I toss. Oh and naps. I could NOT survive without them!

  8. I have had nights like that many times. I have found nothing to help me get to sleep so to keep from getting more tired tossing and turning wishing for sleep I sometimes get up and do something until I feel sleepy again. Sometimes I can go back to bed later and sleep, other times I just stay up until the morning. Wish I had some help for you sweet Jo. If you learn anything to help maybe you can share it with me. Hugs

  9. You ask:
How do you handle nights when you can't sleep?

Not well, Josette, not well at all.

However, I am able to go back to sleep after breakfast for a couple of hours.

    Lucky me.

If you do find The Solution
please let us all know :^)

    Hugs

  10. Oh, I fall asleep, but wake up all during the night, turning and tossing around. I wish I had a solution for you. I like to spray lavender scent around my bed, and I like to think that helps me sleep.

Hope you find a solution and some sleep soon, Jo!

  11. You have my sympathies. I go through spells of this from time to time, especially when I have a lot on my mind. The worst spell lasted weeks and weeks and I began to so dread going to bed as I feared that constant waking up and the seeming worsening of all the things on my mind . . . then one night my husband fixed it, actually. He made me promise to wake him up. He said that we would get up and have some tea and talk and make it into a lovely time, until we both could get back to sleep. Guess what. I slept that whole night through, and the spell was broken. I had begun anticipating and therefor bringing on the unrest.

Best wishes to you as you get past this.

P.S. It may not be the ideal thing, but Advil PMs have helped me at times as well.

  12. I hate those nights and hate even more that I had them so often, I ended up taking half an Ambien each night. I also have fibromyalgia and lupus so sleep disturbances are just another symptom to deal with.

I hope you find the sleep you seek.

  13. I have sleep problems, too. Guess some of it is age-related and some of it is the back aches that wake me up. Whatever the cause...it's not nice! I've heard melatonin is good to take, but haven't tried it. Think I'll check it out soon as I'm gettin' a little cranky without my quota of sleep. Take care and here's to a good night of sleep for ya!

  14. Hi Jo
I know Exactly what you mean! I hate Those Nights! You almost feel Like you should get up and Clean Something...Well Almost.
I Know you have gotten lost of advice on what to take but I have a Friend who has been a Pharmacy Tech for years. She told me to take 1 =25mg Tablet of Benedryl at bedtime. She said it is not addictive and does not have any Long term effects. I get the Generic Brand at Costco. It is only like 4.50 for 400 tablets. It really has helped me anyway. Just had to add My 2 cents for what it is worth
Sweet Dreams Jo!That is my wish for you!
    Hugs
    Jill

  15. Hi Jo, oooh, because I have fibromyalgia, I sleep very little and not really good sleep in the night... for some reason, if I get up and make myself a cup of coffee in the night (I know it sounds weird) then I can sleep a bit... tried counting sheep... finally quit after about a thousand sheep were in my room, tee hee hee... xoxo Julie Marie

  16. Jo, it must be contagious because I haven't been sleeping much. And then I sleep too late. My days and nights are mixed up. I think I am going to make a rule that I stay off the computer late and night. I've heard that it can stimulate you and have an effect on your sleep. In the mean time, wishing you sweet dreams...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  17. Oh Jo, sometimes I have trouble sleeping so I understand your sentiments. I have read you should not turn on a light if you wake in the wee hours, because it tricks your body in to thinking it is time to be awake.
Your comment on strawberries and bunnies on my blog made me think of an idea for you, since when buying strawberry plants at the nursery I saw a "hanging strawberry/ upside down" planter.
You could hang it with strawberries from the eaves of your house and the bunnies couldn't reach them (unless they have a ladder). LOL

  18. Sorry that you have this problem. :-(

Can't give you any suggestions, because I don't suffer from it.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... Here are some of the things I have planned for my birthday month: 1.  Listing our current home the end of the first week in November.  We are pretty excited to be moving into a little smaller spot as it means less work and maintenance.  We just want to be able to live more and work less.  Although we still have not found our new spot.....we know it is out there.   2.  Taking a 15 day cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Budapest.  We will visit 5 countries along the way.  One of the stops will be in the place I was born....Nuremberg, Germany.  My  family  left Germany right...

PUTTING ON MY GYPSY SHOES......................

Bo Bunny Paper Collection Well.......the coach is packed...the laundry done in the condo....and we will be on our way tomorrow. I often do feel like a gypsy moving from one spot to another....and each year my gratitude grows as I am able to continue this lifestyle. I truly would love to "do up" my coach in Gypsy Style...but alas....not too practical as things probably would be flying all over as we traveled down the road.  (O: But.....a girl can dream.....can't she? ~~~ My suitcase is packed with memories To be opened further down the road When my caravan must be halted The bag waits to be opened Stories to be told and shared Like the gypsy's of so long ago But for now....the wheels keep turning And my case grows larger still Waiting for the day..I must be stopped   And my heart, to the brim, will be filled Hugs from me to you, Jo Gypsy photos:  Electric Gipsyland on Flickr

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a picture of our little tree this year.  Each year our trees seem to be smaller, a function of our getting older and just wanting to deal with less stuff.  I'm sure a few of you feel them same.  Although it does seem to be a little weird that we want to deal with fewer Christmas decorations and give each other MORE STUFF in the way of presents under the tree.   Ahhh...being human is such a quandary sometimes!                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS                                                          Jo
