Years ago, while visiting my beautiful aunt Ruth...we were talking about my blog.  She asked me why I began blogging and I replied something to the effect that I really didn't know.  She piped in with this reply..."I know why....you need to let the world know YOU WERE HERE".   After thinking about this a while....I believe that is the correct assumption. Perhaps....that is the only thing a blog is..an invitation for others to see that you existed and really lived. If one does not have an extended family..... who is there to tell your story?  With that in mind I have decided to create a collage of my life.   Pictures and cards of where I have lived and where I have traveled. Sweet cards from friends who really mattered....and beautiful cards I have picked up along the way. Oh...I know....when I die this will probably end up on the junk pile or in some second hand shop somewhere...but for now I will work on this little...

Here is the little garden that graces the front door to our new, sweet little spot.  I have always believed that your front door area  gives such an important message as to who lives inside. It is a welcome to all who visit your home.  Most of these plantings were in place when we purchased this house.  However, the previous owner was a very tidy gardner and liked everything shaped into little tiny balls.   Not so.....with us.  We like a much more lush feel to our gardens.  The tree in the corner is a Ficus and the previous owner was kind enough to leave it for us to enjoy.  The tree is in such a large pot that it allows the Vinca to thrive below.  I might add that much of these planting are volunteers ( which all of you KNOW THAT I LOVE.....less work). I have always believed that a fountain will help plants thrive.....it could be inside our outside the door.....either place will give such a serene feel. W...

Arrived home at 9:00 p.m. last night.....and went right to sleep... Just a little post today with a little trivia... There are over 800,000 people living in the city of Amsterdam with 1.5 million bikes.  Everywhere you turn...bikes, bikes and more bikes. I believe they are some of the healthiest people on the planet.  Sometimes I wish we in America would follow suit and rid ourselves of these gas guzzling cars and jump on our bikes! How many times in our lives have we waited to do something?  You know the feeling....I'll wait until a better dress,  car , man, friend....etc. comes along.  Only to find that our waiting has actually made what we wanted a thing that will never be attained.  Making a decision and then going forward with it can at times be very fearful..but more often than not it is the right thing to do. I have always be one to be proactive in most things...sometimes to my peril..but that is just the way I am.  However, with age and wisdom now on my side...I am more able to put on the brakes occasionally and make a more considered decision.   But I do believe there is a difference between making a considered decision and waiting to long for fear of making any decision.....how do you feel about this....and have you had experiences where waiting has been a definite advantage or disadvantage? Case in point right now for us is this move we are anticipating. ...

Big changes are coming in our life this next year.......things are far from firmed up.....but I will keep anyone who is interested informed. Blog changes are going to happen also. Have a wonderful day, Jo

Our Miss Sophie Those of you who follow me know we have just adopted a new puppy......Skyler. He's a little male Cavalier with the same color markings as our beautiful girl above. Sophie will soon be 10 years old...so she is getting up in years for her breed.  She also has some health issues which have been addressed with surgery...but her ability to romp and run around is no longer there. So you can only imagine how it is with this little guy's appearance in our home.... He is now 4 months old and full of it as only a puppy can be.  He chews, barks, digs, rolls over endlessly and runs around like a crazy man while playing during his day.  He so much wants to play with our older girl...but alas....it is not to be.  So like the bright girl she is Sophie has devised her own method of playing.  She simply stands still wagging her tail and barking occasionally as he runs around her in circles barking and jumping back and forth to play....it...

I don't know about you....but during the holidays I seem to be particularly stressed and sometimes bordering on being a little blue. Usually....when that happens I try to find some inspiring little something to come to my aid.  Happened across this wonderful little publication...it is perfect for this time of year. With chapter's such as "CARING ABOUT AND FOR YOURSELF".... "SCHEDULE A MEETING WITH YOURSELF"...."SPENDING/SAVING TIME"....."BEAUTY"....it seemed to be the perfect balm for a harried and hurried season. I do think that holidays are almost ALL women's work and adding this to a woman's already busy schedule leaves many of us with very little time to care for ourselves. So please....... Find A QUIET CORNER IN YOUR BUSY DAY....just for yourself to take care of yourself. Hugs from here, Jo
