"People always call it luck when you've acted more sensibly than they have."
Anne Tyler
I have often pondered the fact why some people are so much luckier than others. You know.....when it seems some people have ALL the luck and others have NONE at all.
When I was much younger....I did not consider myself very lucky....but as I have matured...I have come to realize that I have been incredibly lucky.
Oh I've certainly had my share of heartaches...but in the big picture...my life has been so very wonderful. I don't know whether it has been God's grace, luck or hard work....or a combo of all three....but I do feel incredibly blessed.
Now mind you.....while trials and tribulations were going on, it was awfully hard to find that lucky penny....but in hindsight, I've come to realize that things have turned out exactly like they should have. Life has somehow taught me many lessons I needed to learn.
"Shallow people believe in luck ~~ strong men believe in cause and effect."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I still don't know if I believe in sheer luck per se....but I do know I will keep steering my path down the straight and narrow....making slight adjustments when necessary and all the while humming my little tune.
"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work......the more I have of it."
Thomas Jefferson
Do you believe in luck?
I would love to hear what you have to say about it.
Hugs,
Jo
Hi Jo, I love the quote by Thomas Jefferson... so true!... I tend to call it destiny, although I believe we are in charge of our own destiny with our own actions and paths we choose to take in life... like you, I know I have been very blessed... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in luck. I, too, believe in destiny. What is meant to happen will happen.

Oh, I believe in many things. I do believe we make most of our luck and sometimes we are favored.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes. I believe in luck is not luck at all but a blessing from God. Don't burn the crazy candle. Ha!'
ReplyDeletehugs~
I'm not sure if I believe the good stuff is luck...or a blessing, but I do agree with you that when we are down on our luck (or whatever you want to call it), we are learning a valuable lesson and we better pay attention!

I have to say I am not one who actually believes in "luck" per say. I believe everything happens for a reason and that throughout our lives we go through various "Seasons". Just like the Seasons of Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall....our seasons come & go; but always with a purpose; always with a reason...GREAT POST! ~Hugs M
ReplyDeleteI believe that most of what people commonly call "luck" is really the result of choices we have made, but some "true luck" does exist -- for example, if you win big in the lottery. Yes, it's random chance but I bet it feels good!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, I think having a positive attitude goes a long long way to making your self seem "lucky" >>someone who is upbeat, funny, positive, complimentary..ect..is far more likely to attract the same positive energy wherever they are! On the other hand, someone who is depressed, negative, pesimistic..ect, is more likely to be a "loner"..no one wants to be drug down into the doldrum, ho hum..mood..Just my opinion, but I have found that I personally have found much better "luck" since I have surrounded myself with positive, upbeat, fun, and creative individuals..and I try to emmulate that as well! ..it seems to be working for me..did you see the BEAUTIFUL new Bernina sewing machine I just won? Have a great day Jo, always a pleasure to visit your beautiful blog! xoxo Christel
ReplyDeleteI believe you create your own luck or lack of. People who walk around thinking they have no luck at all usually don't because that is what they look for. Someone who finds a penny and thinks, "I am so lucky!", is blessed indeed. Your life goes where your thoughts go. I hope your weekend is delightful and full of luck!
