MEET MISS BOSSY PANTS....AKA.....SOPHIE.......





We have one of these......yep.......a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.


Here she is.....doing what she does best.....hogging the sofa and the pillows.  She will soon be nine, and it seems as though she is becoming so much more demanding as she gets older.  (Kind of like me.....I guess).  Anyway....she is a love and is such a gentle creature, one would hardly believe how she has changed over the years.

Each year seems to bring out yet more personality.....she now barks when she wants company on the sofa or the bed....she has to have a lick of my lip balm before we go to bed and she refuses to drink water from her bowl.  She prefers a glass....with ice!

Our vet recommends we feed her a raw diet mixed in with vegetables and potato or rice.  Well.....she now has decided she doesn't like potato....so if I add a little to her food.....she picks out each piece and sits it down on the floor....beside her food dish.  My friend tells me ........ she WANTS GRAVY.....silly woman.  Brother....if I start that she will want the biscuits as well.

We are so grateful for every day we have had her.....and are always amazed at all the lessons we learn from her.
I believe I read a quote somewhere that went something like this "Every house should have a dog.....and every dog should have a home."  I couldn't agree more.

    Sophie is such a beauty. I can't imagine life without our girls. They make our days so much better even when all they do is lay around and make demands. Our Scooter can't have beef or chicken so venison is served at our house. With duck for treats.

    I read a quote once that loosely translated said..you don't own a dog..they own you! I think Sophie is a beautiful dog, and I see her her soul within her eyes!     Hi Emily....No Sophie has not had a real problem with ear infections. She actually does not like to go in water. Her linage is a hunting dog. We call her " hunter girl" as she likes to stalk bunnies and birds when we take her out.

    Hello from Frog Hollow Farm. Oh, I love your little Sophie. We've been without a dog for a few years now, and I really miss having one in our home. I grew up with collies, but now am allergic to dog and cat dander, so we've had a standard poodle named Bear and a little rescue poodle named Brinkley.     Sophie is very sweet looking. Today I have my son-in-law's border collie following me around. He's sweet but can be a handful when he thinks anyone is leaving without him!!!

    Our Lola (simply a shih tzu) loves drinking water out of a glass with ice. And she licks my lip balm too. What are the chances? I don't trust anyone who doesn't like animals (especially dogs). Live long and prosper, sweet Sophie. I love your name, by the way. You go, girl. You ARE the boss!

    What a precious little sweetheart and how could you not cave in to her demands?
    Although I have numerous rescue cats I have always been a "dog" person. I hope someday to have the room to have a few canine friends again.

    Sophie is so beautiful! I do agree though, gravy could lead to biscuits and who knows what else. ;-) My King is also 9 years old. Where does the time go?

    I love my old dog Sadie. She will be 13 next month, getting up there for a dog her size. She is deaf as a post and sleeps a lot. She is my best buddy and I am going to be soooooo sad when her time comes.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... Here are some of the things I have planned for my birthday month: 1.  Listing our current home the end of the first week in November.  We are pretty excited to be moving into a little smaller spot as it means less work and maintenance.  We just want to be able to live more and work less.  Although we still have not found our new spot.....we know it is out there.   2.  Taking a 15 day cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Budapest.  We will visit 5 countries along the way.  One of the stops will be in the place I was born....Nuremberg, Germany.  My  family  left Germany right after the war...when I was quite young.  Memories are almos

PUTTING ON MY GYPSY SHOES......................

Bo Bunny Paper Collection Well.......the coach is packed...the laundry done in the condo....and we will be on our way tomorrow. I often do feel like a gypsy moving from one spot to another....and each year my gratitude grows as I am able to continue this lifestyle. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a picture of our little tree this year.  Each year our trees seem to be smaller, a function of our getting older and just wanting to deal with less stuff.  I'm sure a few of you feel them same.  Although it does seem to be a little weird that we want to deal with fewer Christmas decorations and give each other MORE STUFF in the way of presents under the tree.   Ahhh...being human is such a quandary sometimes!                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS                                                          Jo
