YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO PLAY DRESS-UP

O.K., I admit it - I splurged on myself this holiday and bought myself an antique mannequin.  Of course she is from France, and I have named her Minnette.

I chose this name from many French names because of her minute waist.  Can you believe that women used to be that tiny!

Anyway, as I have posted before, my childhood was less than perfect - and I really never had much of a chance to play the things little girls play; i.e. DRESS-UP.  So, I decided with this the new year I was going to embark on things I have not done -  thus - MINNETTE!

I change her outfits often with whatever fancies my spirit for that day.  Although it is not me wearing the outfits, it certainly allows me to express an artistic side of myself.

You might ask, where do I have her displayed?  You guessed it - right smack dab in my living room in all her splendor!!

She makes me smile - every single day.  Isn't that what life is all about?
Have a wonderful day, dear friends.

  1. Oh Josette sweetie...
MINNETTE is just beautiful. I too would love to have a dress form to play with. I would stand her proudly in my dining room, and I had always thought that I would dress her in aprons. I just love her. Thank you for sharing with me today.

She looks fabulouso today. Just fab. I love the touch of her shoulder bag. That really sets it off. Her jewelry is devine.

Have a beautiful day. Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

  9. Minette is one snazzy looking mademoselle! I think it would be fun to dress her up differently and often. I'd love to have one.

  10. She is a very big dress up doll even with her tiny waist.
Have fun, but just don't start talking to her when no one is around. Lol.

  11. Oh, go ahead and talk to her!!
I love that you do this and I would too if I had one. Question, you have the beautiful scarves, totes and jewels on her, any chance you put heels or some other form of foot wear on the floor under her? I mean, we *ladies* need an awesome pair of footwear to set off our outfit (O:
    Have fun!

  12. Minette looks like so much fun! I love the pretty brooches and necklaces on her. When I recently stayed in a Victorian Bed & Breakfast, there were mannequins in the living room and parlour. I am sure Minette is absolutely acceptable in yours! :-)

  17. Oh how I want a dress form. And I don't sew and don't have a shop so it would be ONLY for playing dress up!

  18. This is a beautiful concept, that proves it is never too late too start playing dress ups! I have always carried a massive amount of dress-up items in a large trunk where ever I move to (always adding to the collection), and my daughters and I all enjoy using them at various times!!

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... Here are some of the things I have planned for my birthday month: 1.  Listing our current home the end of the first week in November.  We are pretty excited to be moving into a little smaller spot as it means less work and maintenance.  We just want to be able to live more and work less.  Although we still have not found our new spot.....we know it is out there.   2.  Taking a 15 day cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Budapest.  We will visit 5 countries along the way.  One of the stops will be in the place I was born....Nuremberg, Germany.  My  family  left Germany right after the war...when I was quite young.  Memories are almos

PUTTING ON MY GYPSY SHOES......................

Bo Bunny Paper Collection Well.......the coach is packed...the laundry done in the condo....and we will be on our way tomorrow. I often do feel like a gypsy moving from one spot to another....and each year my gratitude grows as I am able to continue this lifestyle. I truly would love to "do up" my coach in Gypsy Style...but alas....not too practical as things probably would be flying all over as we traveled down the road.  (O: But.....a girl can dream.....can't she? ~~~ My suitcase is packed with memories To be opened further down the road When my caravan must be halted The bag waits to be opened Stories to be told and shared Like the gypsy's of so long ago But for now....the wheels keep turning And my case grows larger still Waiting for the day..I must be stopped   And my heart, to the brim, will be filled Hugs from me to you, Jo Gypsy photos:  Electric Gipsyland on Flickr

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a picture of our little tree this year.  Each year our trees seem to be smaller, a function of our getting older and just wanting to deal with less stuff.  I'm sure a few of you feel them same.  Although it does seem to be a little weird that we want to deal with fewer Christmas decorations and give each other MORE STUFF in the way of presents under the tree.   Ahhh...being human is such a quandary sometimes!                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS                                                          Jo
