My Christmas Home for Friday Show and Tell



  Today I am participating in Show and Tell Friday Hosted by MY Romantic Home - please click on her button in my side bar if you would like to see the other participants and see what wonderful things they have posted about today.

I didn't know if I would show pictures of my Christmas home to all of you out there - but I decided to go ahead and jump in on the Christmas bandwagon.  I know many of the beautiful homes out there are done in all white motifs, but as I have gotten older, I have found that I need more color in my surroundings.


As you can see, I pretty much like all the colors of the rainbow.   Most of the decorations you see I have had for many years.  In fact, this year is the first time I have added any new items.  I tell my husband it is my way of helping the down economy!!  I do like to decorate anything that doesn't move.


This is the first time I have decorated my hutch in my dining room.  I'm not exactly sure why I haven't done that before.  But - better late than never!

I made this little tree yesterday and used both old things I have around the house and a few new bulbs I bought at Hobby Lobby this year.


And last, but not least, is my collection of Nutcrackers.  I have been collecting them for years and it seems every year I never know where to place them.  So this year I have only incorporated a few of them in my displays.  Every time I look at them they remind me of the place and time I either purchased them or they were given to me by my wonderful husband.

Well, that is an abbreviated tour of my Christmas house.  It may not be the prettiest Christmas house on the block, but it is my house and it is much loved!

    I started to collect nutcrackers when the kids were small, but they were afraid of them and their 'teeth'!!

    I think your house looks wonderful-I love color too, especially the deeper, darker, jewel tones. I would *love* to be able to decorate in pinks & whites, but everytime I try, something makes me stop. So, I completely understand where you are coming from.

    Oh Jo, I LOVE your home! The colors are so rich and beautiful! You read my post yesterday about me not having an all white home, it's just not me either! The changes people are making to all white are beautiful, but I must be true to myself too... I am so happy to see you feel the same way... your hutch looks just breathtaking!     Wow, I really love everything you have done in your decorating...the tree from Hobby Lobby you made is fantastic.....love the photo over your sofa with the lamp in the background.

    Beautiful Christmas home! Like you, I need color. I adore all those creamy whites out there, but when I try to do it in my home, I just never can do it. Have the very Merriest of Christmases!

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... PUTTING ON MY GYPSY SHOES......................

Bo Bunny Paper Collection Well.......the coach is packed...the laundry done in the condo....and we will be on our way tomorrow. I often do feel like a gypsy moving from one spot to another....and each year my gratitude grows as I am able to continue this lifestyle. I truly would love to "do up" my coach in Gypsy Style...but alas....not too practical as things probably would be flying all over as we traveled down the road.  (O: But.....a girl can dream.....can't she? ~~~ My suitcase is packed with memories To be opened further down the road When my caravan must be halted The bag waits to be opened Stories to be told and shared Like the gypsy's of so long ago But for now....the wheels keep turning And my case grows larger still Waiting for the day..I must be stopped   And my heart, to the brim, will be filled Hugs from me to you, Jo Gypsy photos:  Electric Gipsyland on Flickr

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a picture of our little tree this year.  Each year our trees seem to be smaller, a function of our getting older and just wanting to deal with less stuff.  I'm sure a few of you feel them same.  Although it does seem to be a little weird that we want to deal with fewer Christmas decorations and give each other MORE STUFF in the way of presents under the tree.   Ahhh...being human is such a quandary sometimes!                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS                                                          Jo
