"Art enables us to find ourselves~and lose ourselves at the same time."
Thomas Merton
Unfortunately, I brought very few art supplies with me on our trip this year. This piece was painted with some broken watercolor crayons and pentel marking pencils. I have only one tiny tipped watercolor brush with me and I'm using a basting brush when I want to cover a lot of paper. No....it is not the one I use when baking a chicken. LOL ....LOL This was done on Canton ll0lb. cold pressed paper....I usually use l30lb. arches.
This rose wasn't even done on watercolor paper it was done on sketch paper....using the water color supplies mentioned above.
Sometimes the urge to paint just becomes overwhelming and I go with the flow.
This is truly a case of "necessity is the mother of invention" with my art supplies.
Had a fun afternoon.....though!!
Hugs,
Jo
That rose is beautiful! I think painting with watercolors takes a lot of courage! Yay for you!
ReplyDeleteMy future DIL is an artist and has that same creative streak that you have. It's amazing to watch her in action but it doesn't happen often because she doesn't like people watching her.
ReplyDeleteJo,
ReplyDeleteYour picture with the woman with the bird is breath taking! I love it! I just witnessed the most gorgeous and colorful rainbow I think that I have ever seen. Your painting reminds me of that rainbow. You are so talented.

Sometimes limited supplies can make for amazing art. You are very talented. Love these watercolors.
ReplyDeleteHey sweet lady ~ Sometimes we can make an amazing creation as you have done here with less. Oh! Good one, less is more. :) Yep! The sun out in my gardens has gotten to me. The rose you painted is quite stunning actually. You are very talented, now let's talk about that basting brush!
ReplyDeleteLots of hugs, Rosemary...xx

ReplyDeleteYou always create such beauty and are a true artist. I love both of these lovely pieces. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteYou are so gifted...to be able to use other types of brushes when regular paint brushes are not available and to "make do" with the supplies you have on hand..and still create beautiful art. Not just a talent, a gift!
