Our current home has very high ceilings...although it is an old home..it was built in 1970's...the architect had great vision. We have very high ceilings here...so we are able to have a really tall tree. Our tree is between 10 and 12 feet tall.
YEARS AGO THIS TREE USED TO BE ADORNED WITH ALL WHITE LIGHTS AND CLEAR BULBS AND ORNAMENTS...IT WAS VERY ETHEREAL AND BEAUTIFUL....but a few years ago SWEET HUBBY and I decided we wanted to add more color to our Christmas...so hence this tree...
I HAVE ADDED BURGUNDY AND GOLD BALLS OVER THE YEARS AS TIME HAS PASSED....AND ALSO HAVE ADDED ANYTHING ELSE THAT I MIGHT FANCY..
it is truly a tree full of whimsy and beauty....i like a little bit of both..
WE actually discussed not putting up a tree this year...but decided to do it as always.....NO....WE DON't DECORATE THIS OURSELVES....we have a wonderful woman
who has helped us for years..
IN FACT she has told us she will do our tree forever....I KNOW she needs the income and I think she likes to see how we are by checking in on us during the holidays.
SHE tells me her holiday officially starts with the decoration of our TREE..
how sweet is THAT....
YEARS OF ORNAMENTS AND TREASURERS HAVE BEEN PUT ON THIS TREE
EACH ONE WITH A MEMORY.....EACH ONE WITH A STORY......
PERHAPS THAT IS WHY OUR CREATOR GAVE US A MEMORY.....JUST SO EACH AND EVERY YEAR we can relive all the beautiful Christmas' past..
AND BE RIGHT BACK THERE IN THE BEAUTIFUL TIME AND PLACE OF YESTERDAY.....
Thank you dear friends....for joining me today in my Christmas memory.
Jo your tree is just BEAUTIFUL!

Dear Josette, your home, and tree are beautiful! So glad you did put it up, and have shown it here for us. All of the ornaments are gorgeous! I too have an array of different type ornaments, from the traditional, to whimsy, and handmade, to elegant..all together they create a beautiful tree of memories. Merry Christmas to you, and your family. Peace and Blessings, Christel

What a gorgeous tree! And I love ornaments which all have their own story.
ReplyDeleteMy first thoughts were, "Holy Crap! That's exquisite!!"...but then I thought the 'crap' part was inappropriate for anything Christmas related.
ReplyDeleteSo...
Holy Cow! Holy Toledo! Holy December Beauty, Batman! Wowza! Yowza! Hot Diggity Dog!
Seriously - we had a 10 foot tree in our great room done in burgundy and gold...until I could no longer physically manage it. It never occurred to me to hire someone to decorate it! And, Lord knows, I hire people for everything else nowadays.
Really lovely, Jo!

ReplyDeleteAnd lovely to have a lady, who helps. I am one of those people who doesn't enjoy the tree decorating part. -sigh- Wish I was other wise. But now, we have a tiny tree, so there's not much, to *complain* about. :-)
