REMEMBER WHEN WOMEN USED TO GET DRESSED UP TO GO OUT SHOPPING OR ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER.....
THEY WOULD PUT ON A BEAUTIFUL COAT...BEAUTIFUL JEWELRY
PUT ON A PRETTY HAT.....THEIR PRETTIEST SHOES
THEY DIDN'T NEED TO BE SPIKE HEELS.....grab a small functional...but beautiful bag
it didn't need to hold their cell phone, i-pod, blackberry
and everything else they could cram into it....just a simple bag for keys, lipstick, handkerchief and comb..just the necessities a lady would need for a day out...OH I FORGOT MONEY!!
MISS MINNETTE IS ready for a day of shopping whether it be in PARIS or NEW YORK....looking beautiful and being comfortable as well....
Ahh....I SORT OF MISS THOSE DAYS.
enjoy your shopping today dear, sweet friends.
Hugs,
Jo

Hello Jo... you know me and how I feel about days gone by... I remember my mama getting all dressed up to go into the big city (Salt Lake City) from our little town of Bountiful which is about 20 miles away... she also dressed my sisters and I up as well... it was such a treat to shopping with my pretty mama, and the beautiful departments stores back then... oooh, they were so lovely... so different from the giant big~box stores today... so yes, I miss those days too!... Miss Minnette would have fit right in... her clothes, shoes, bag and jewelry are all just stunning... some days I just want to throw my cellphone out the window!... I got along fine without it for all those years... I had better sign off now... I could go on and on... and on...... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteMiss Minnette looks ready to go. I would shop with her, she looks stunning. I used to dress up a bit to go shopping...now it is blue jeans and sneakers, want to be comfortable for the long day. But I always put on my makeup, perfume and jewelry, then I am ready to go.

Bonjour Jo,
ReplyDeleteYes, I think alot of things were better in 'the old days'. I love how they dressed for everything, and no cell phone..heaven!
How have you been? I have gotten so behind in blog visits.
Enjoy your shopping and getting ready for Christmas!
Mimi
Our lives are more and more casual these days.
ReplyDeleteDressing up is going by the wayside, I'm sad to report.
Holiday Hugs,
Gerry
A simpler life...
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely. I would enjoy dressing like that and going out shopping. I love those shoes!
Hugs,
Terri
Awww, brings my Grama alive again...
ReplyDeleteShe never went anywhere without anything on your list. I'd wear hats if they'd come back in style...
Thanks for the memories Jo.
I do not remember those days, but I love hearing about them. (I am told that my great-grandmother shopped every afternoon directly after lunch dressing up as you describe and wearing her gloves and hat. She returned in time for an afternoon nap before supper. I can't imagine!)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visits and sweet comments. I hope that you'll stop by whenever you're out and about.
Oh Jo, I can remember when my momma and I would go out shopping. She didn't even know how to drive, but we walked to all the shops and she in her HIGH HEELS! Hat and purse, gloves and dress, we would amble our way to the stores and enjoy a day of poking around in the sewing notion department of Woolworths...those WERE the days. LOVELY POST! Anita
ReplyDeleteI do remember! My mother always dressed to go shopping. No matter how hot the day, she would not think of leaving the house without hose. And gloves were important to keep the southern sun off her fair skin!
ReplyDeleteDo you remember when people used to get dressed up to travel?
Best,
Bonnie
Too funny Jo! I was going to post something similar!! I was born in the 60's and loved seeing ladies in their hats, etc. Even going to the movies called for "fixin' up"!
