AUGUSTA WALLINHAN
"GROCERY SHOPPING"
Yee....gads I would have never made it as a real cowgirl BARNCHICK
...where is the Safeway?????
WHEN SHE ISN'T OUT KILLIN' DINNER.....SHE IS OUT FEEDIN' THE CHICKENS
SO SHE CAN GATHER THEIR EGGS AND THEN LATER ON....PLUCK THEM FOR ANOTHER DINNER....OH MY WHAT FUN!!!
NOW THIS LOOKS MORE LIKE IT......WAVING YOUR HAT AROUND...SMILIN FOR THE CAMERA AND LOOKING PRETTY IN YOUR COWGIRL SKIRT AND OUTFIT......I LIKE THIS BARNCHICK!!! teehee
I know, I know.....I have to show some barns.....so here we go:
THIS ONE HAS CERTAINLY STOOD THE TEST OF TIME....
I THINK THIS ONE COULD HAVE BEEN AUGUSTA'S HOUSE/BARN....I DO BELIEVE THERE WERE SOME TIGHT QUARTERS IN THE WILD WEST!!! (O:
BARNS COME IN EVERY SHAPE AND COLOR.....WITH RED BEING A FAVORITE
THESE LAST TWO BARNS ARE MY FAVORITES OF THE PICS I HAVE TAKEN ALONG THE WAY IN MY TRAVELS THIS SUMMER......ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL OLD BARNS WERE IN THE FOLLOWING STATES ALTHOUGH I'M NOT SURE WHERE EACH SHOT WAS TAKEN.....WASHINGTON, IDAHO, MONTANA, UTAH, CALIFORNIA AND OREGON.............THEY ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME ......HAVE SHELTERED MANY AN ANIMAL AND HUMAN.....I'M SURE.....AH WHAT STORIES THEY COULD TELL......
IN CLOSING JUST WANT TO SHARE THIS LITTLE SHOT!!!
THESE ARE TWO OUTLAWS......LANT AND TRACY (CIRCA 1903)...LOOK AT THESE GUYS FACES.....CAN YOU BELIEVE WE ACTUALLY GAVE THEM GUNS?????
(O:(O:(O:
THEY ARE HALF IN THE BAG...I'M SURE AND I LOVE IT THAT THE ONE IS HOLDING HIS GUN SO IT CAN BE OF PROMINENCE IN THE SHOT!!!
TeeeHEEEEE
OH MY.............
MAKES YOU WONDER HOW THE "WEST WAS EVER WON" DOESN'T IT.....
I THINK "BARNCHICK" AUGUSTA HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT!!!!.........

ReplyDeleteHello Jo... so happy you joined the party! I would never have made it as a barn chick in years gone by if that's what they did!...I could never kill an animal... I am a shabby chic kind of barn chick I think... love all of your beautiful barn photos from your travels... and you are right, the stories they could tell!... many an outlaw undoubtedly hid in some of them... xoxo Julie Marie

ReplyDeleteAUGUSTA WALLINHAN is my new Role Model!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW you have great barn pics. Just love all the settings. But seeing the women of the frontier, killing dinner and putting it on the table is really a hoot. I know they did it and I would have never survived. LOL And they call that, the good ole days. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSure enjoyed your barn party. Very creative.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

ReplyDeleteJust love those old time photos! Thank you for visiting my blog. Kit
ReplyDeleteMost barns were painted red because it was the least expensive and the most available. Red barns tend to hold up longer than any other color (I have been told) Loved your photo treatments and your storytelling.
ReplyDeleteFun post, Jo! I'm with you - where's the Safeway. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by my lil blog. I like your motto!

what a wonderful post! I am still giggling over the last pic of the two drunk outlaws. You are funny! Love your post, the barns are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKaren
beautiful barn photos! The prairie ladies sorta remind me of my gran... tho she did live in the 'city' when she was wed, but they had chickens & I bet she could hunt, as she could cook anything! I would not be plucking anything! I chuckled at the last pic with the cow-pokes too, I sure hope the guns were not as loaded as they were! I enjoyed your chick post! Faythe @GMT
