Here is my dogeared copy of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. I have no idea when it was published, because there is no publishing date inside its cover. This is actually the only PHYSICAL THING I have left from when I was little girl; and we all know that was some time ago. (o: (o:
The illustrations in "Books of Old" , LOL, were usually in black and white, at least mine are.
It seems like it was only yesterday that I was reading that story from cover to cover.
I was an avid reader then and I read this book several times.
I can remember the characters coming alive in my imagination and actually finding a few of them a little scary. But, I didn't mind because I thought Alice was such a hero and so adventurous.
Oftentimes, this small book would be less frightening than the real world I lived in........so I was always grateful for the escape.
I am so VERY DELIGHTED that Tim Burton has released this new movie, and that Johnny Depp is the star. No one can be more over the top than these two.
My sweet hubby and I plan on taking a trip "Down the Rabbit Hole".
Will you join us???
Blessings dear friends,
Jo

ReplyDeleteYour Alice In Wonderland book is so precious and I know that you cherish it. I think you are fortunate to have it because I don't think I have a thing from my childhood.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the movie.

Your book is precious. How nice to have something so treasured from your childhood. I was the same way, escaping into books when I was little. The movie sounds excellent. Let us know how you like it, Jo.

ReplyDeleteI went and it was fun. Not as Tim Burton as I expected. Very child appropriate, except the monsters. But really great! ENJOY!!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteDelightful post! I love that you have your sweet book, and enjoy the movie. My daughter saw it and loved it.
I was making cupcakes this morning, and they somehow turned out lemon and yellow so I thought of you! I am thinking of spring!!!

Oh what beautiful illustrations!!! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteBtw, did you know you can see one of those NYC Central Park statues, [Rabbit] in "Remember Me" which opens this weekend? :-)
Yes, I know of "Alice" but I'm not a fan of Johnny Depp so I'll wait to see "Alice."
But I am a fan of the actor in "Remember Me," so I'm going to that. :-)
