I THINK A HOUSE MUST TELL A STORY...........

Look at me~~look at me
Please come in and stay
Every house has a story to tell

Whispers from the floorboards
Shadows from the light
Every house has a story to tell

Rooms in their kaleidoscope of colors
Beds holding secrets of their own
Every house has a story to tell

Doors open more than closed
Windows left bare to catch the light
Every house has a story to tell

Too much clutter stored away...but not forgotten
Tidy surroundings saying all is secure here
Every house has a story to tell

Personal bits of inspiration
hung haphazardly here and there
Every house has a story to tell

What story does your house tell?

  1. The story of my home is still being written. It will be one of love, peacefulness, and serenity when it was finished.

  2. My house's story would be interesting. The first owners, years ago, were part of a crime syndicate. I have been here for 43 years, and a lot has happened in that time.

  3. My house tells the story of a life that is filled with grandkids and kids and cooking and laundry and love! xo Diana

  4. Hi Jo... my house tells a story of love of family, Nature and all of God's creatures... it says "welcome" to all, pets included!... it speaks to me gently of days gone by as it is filled with possessions and memories of loved ones who have passed on, yet are always near... xoxo Julie Marie

  5. I think my house is on chapter one with many more chapters to come. Since we built it a few years ago and it's our dream home, I hope it will tell future owners that it was built with love.

  6. I think the stories to be told from some houses would be amazing.
Especially the Older houses, where lots of living has gone on. Generations perhaps.
I have only been in my home 2 1/2 years now. It is a "newborn" of sorts.
We will see how it's story unfolds.

    what about yours??

  7. I love this post! I believe that houses tell stories. Prior the home we have now, we lived in a house that was 110 years old. I loved it! I used to tell people that I was a lot like that house - I needed some fixing up but had a lot of potential! We are like houses - when someone takes the time to restore us, we can bring so much joy to their soul! Your post spoke to me on many levels. What fun!

  8. Our house is a very very fine house. Not two cats in the yard...but two dogs...rocking chairs on the porch windows open to sunshine and flowers all around!

  9. what a great thought provoking post Jo! There are so many stories our house holds...the main theme would be the love of family, the struggles and hard times, of course, but the perserverience, and fortitude to keep trying, has brought many happy years in our house! Home really is where the heart is. XOX Christel

  10. What a perfect story. I am in the rpocess of house-hunting...I think I will look not only at the structure and features, but try to listen to its soul, as I search each one for a place to call "home"~

Just found your blog. I'm following you~

    Hugs!

  12. Hello from Frog Hollow Farm! Oh yes, I do believe that houses tell a story. Sometimes, and I know this will sound weird, but if I am driving in a new area and see an older home that I haven't seen before, many times I feel drawn to it - the way the lights glow in the windows - something - makes me take a second and third look, wishing I could take a peek, before continuing on my journey. xxoo

  15. Hi Jo, I wouldn't want my house to be telling any stories right now, it is a bit of a Mess! I had a busy week & it wasn't spent tidying up around here~ Funny you thought I lived in the south, I sure wish I did... Dearborn Michigan is where I live, but have family in Georgia, I sure wish I could go south for the winters like my folks use too, now I understand why they went to Florida from Jan-May.... It has been mild with not much snow this winter, but the gloomy gray days have taken the toll~ Here's to Spring!
    Take care

Haven't posted since 2021

Goodness...........I haven't opened my blog or posted since December of 2021.  Don't know if I will start blogging again as I don't like to use Google for anything.....but who knows. Guess if I want to put my thoughts on paper Google will be necessary. We will see what happens. Stay well.....✋

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... Here are some of the things I have planned for my birthday month: 1.  Listing our current home the end of the first week in November.  We are pretty excited to be moving into a little smaller spot as it means less work and maintenance.  We just want to be able to live more and work less.  Although we still have not found our new spot.....we know it is out there.   2.  Taking a 15 day cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Budapest.  We will visit 5 countries along the way.  One of the stops will be in the place I was born....Nuremberg, Germany.  My  family  left Germany right...

2020..can you believe it?  With each passing year I am more amazed that I am still here.   Both my parent's died very young and if genetics prove correct sometimes one can have the same fate.  Anyway....I digress. At the beginning of each new year I always find myself wondering what this particular year has in store.  With advanced age you can almost always depend on little surprises here and there.  Your life can be bumping along and then suddenly everything changes in the blink of an eye.  Your health changes, your finances change, family troubles, death of loved ones...the list goes on and on. Instead of making any resolutions for this upcoming year....I have promised myself that I will embrace any and all change with thoughtful consideration.  No panic attacks, no jumping into immediate action, no needless worrying about things I cannot control. I know that is a tall order because being human we...
