DUSK......................................

Dusk is the most perfect time of day... The bees have done their work The birds have temporarily ceased  their songs The ripples in the bird bath have faded to just a stir It feels as if the earth has just taken its last inhale of the day and let its breath out slowly and ever so silently..as though to say.  Ahhhh...all is well Now the night can do the work it does while the sun does its work somewhere else. Rest will come knowing rhythms and cycles continue on  Day to night Night to day Nothing complicated....just simplicity... and continuity Be restful sweet friends Jo

"LOVE AND COOK WITH ABANDON"..........the Dhali Lama

This post is about the cooking part.....LOL LOL. I love to cook.....in fact I probably am one of the few women in the area where I live that ACTUALLY does cook. Wanted to share  two incredibly simple recipes with you today. This one uses a crock pot.  Here goes: Small pork tenderloin  (I usually buy a large one at Costco and cut it in thirds and cook one third at a time..freeze the rest for later use) One small can green chili enchilada sauce (mild or hot) to your taste one-half large onion...sliced Garlic , salt and pepper....that's it..... Place sliced onion in bottom of crock pot Place tenderloin on top Salt and pepper to taste add garlic Pour can of green enchilada sauce over the whole thing. Cook on high for approximately 5-6 hours. When done shred meat to be used in burros.  Or  over-chips...corn...not potato.  I often top the whole mess with cheese and salsa and sour cream. Couldn't be easier. Left over meat and

AROUND THE HOUSE...................................

Our house is still on the market and unfortunately not much activity in our area...so, I have been busy doing little projects here. This is a wonderful mirrored room dividing screen.  In this pic the mirror is turned towards the wall. As you can tell, the back was just plain painted hardwood.  I wanted to be able to use both sides in a different way so I decided to gussy up the back side. These are all bits and bobs of postcards and papers I have collected over the years.  Many of the cards came from when we have traveled abroad.  The ones above with the sailboats are from Portofino when we traveled Italy many years ago. The Mists of Avalon is one of my favorite books and I loved the writing script so I included a page from there as well. Several of these cards are from our recent trip down the Rhine and the Danube.  The little boy and girl holding hands above is a valentines card from my wonderful husband .  I wanted to make the back of this sc

A BEDROOM WINDOW..............................................

What do you see when you first open your eyes in the morning?  Is it a chair full of clothes and clutter....things stacked everywhere, or do you see something pleasing to the eye. Since having cataract surgery on both of my eyes this last few months (hence my absence from blogging).....the window to my world is much improved.    Instead of seeing the world as a constant blur...I see everything crystal clear.  All the pretty and the not so pretty. However, one thing I do believe is a necessity in life is to make sure the first thing one looks upon when waking up to greet the day is beauty!  It does not have to be something costly or precious...just something that brings a smile to your face and makes you glad to be alive.   This is my bedroom garden with a few of my buddhas, a small stereo and some of my playful hats.  Of course the sunshine here in AZ doesn't hurt...but even on a cold cloudy day it still brings a smile to my face when I get out
