ALWAYS A LITTLE OUT OF SYNC....................

Because of the gypsy lifestyle I seems as though we are always a little out of sync with the seasons....not to mention the fact that it is always WARM in Arizona.

I'm looking for summer flowers while the rest of the county is settling in for wonderful fall weather followed by the wonderland of winter.

Sooooooo......since I live in perpetual sunshine half of the year I can incorporate vivid warm colors in my surroundings at anytime of the year.

I spent today adding some of my sweet finds of the summer into our little nest here in AZ.

Picked up the lantern in Texas and the rug is from Anthropologie.

Found this Flapper hat in a little shop in Oregon....thought it would be perfect for my Buddha.

Put an old crown on my Santo's statue.....I often change her hat....but this will do for now.

Shadow puppet from Bali.....found it in a ethnic shop in Park City.

Have been looking for an altar for quite some time.... so was lucky enough to find this one on-line while traveling this summer.  I fill it with meaningful photos and items that help me stay focused on the present.

I've posted before about needing to have spiritual items in my surroundings...they do seem to help me stay calm and focused.

Nothing wrong with that I say!!

Hope you enjoyed my little goodie display today.

  1. I love your goodie display. It all speaks to my eccletic soul. love the buddha with the hat and the santo with a crown.
I am still searching for the "right" cupboard for my soul cabinet...looks like you found a beauty, congrats.
    Happy weekend, Oma Linda

  2. Sweet Jo I would think that your place is a very interesting, beautiful and peaceful place. You picked up some nice things. All your colors are just beautiful. Hugs

  3. Wow!!! Not only are your pieces extraordinary the colors are so cheerful. From one gypsy to another have a wonderful day.
    Lots of hugs, Rosemary...
P.S. Paint some herbs please! :)

  4. Such lovely items. Your home is so beautiful and inviting. I love it when you share with us.

  5. The crown and hat are perfect. Thanks for the tour.

  6. ooooo...I think a tour through your house would be very intriguing.
    all very interesting items....
It is good to surround ourselves with memorable things I think, from trips or experiences...
things that make us smile when we look at them, or laugh. or put us in a "spiritual place"
    love it

  7. Your home is so beautiful Jo. I love the color you surround yourself with.

  8. Dear Jo... I enjoy having an Altar in our Home and mine is actually a Vintage Jukebox covered with an Antique Belgian Cut Velvet Tablecloth and then has all the Religious Relics tiered on it... just the right shape & nobody is any the wiser that its actually what it is underneath. *Winks* Yes, our ultra warm weather has returned with a vengeance hasn't it, we had less than a week below 100 before it shot back up! Took the G-Kids to the opening day of the State Fair today & it really uplifted my mood... how can you NOT feel joyous and uplifted in the atmosphere of a Fair or Carnival, I love them! We stayed from Morning until Sundown and saw an amazing display called "Body Works" which the G-Kids found as fascinating as I did & oddly they weren't at all creeped out by it, extremely educational in fact. Thank you for stopping by my hissy fit Post *winks*, I felt ever so much better after having a good old fashioned rant, it was like a weight had been lifted, I agree, good hissy fits are so under-rated! *LOL* And I do mine so well, I'm a Natural I think?!? *Smiles*

  9. I bet Buddha never wore a hat before. :) Love the colors and your eclectic style. I am the same way with what I surround myself with. And I am definitely looking to start planting flowers and tomatoes and such, too. That's what you do in a desert country when cooler weather starts to settle in. In fact, that's what I just posted about yesterday and today's post is all about the flowers while everyone else is showing off their Fall leaves and pumpkins (something we can't get around here unless we pay an arm and a leg). Have a beautiful day. Tammy

  10. Always a good thing to surround yourself with peaceful things. Keeps me calm! And lots of lavender, too.

  11. Hi Jo,

Love all your beautiful finds! One must surround herself with things we enjoy the most. I do! :)

  12. You are surrounding yourself with beauty, always a good thing.

  13. Lovely home you have! I love that you surround yourself with the things you love and also spiritual things. I think we need those things to remind us of our faith and that things are under control.

  14. Jo, thanks for your visit. Glad I stopped by to see your really nice blog. Love the treasures you show.

  15. Wonderful finds! And a nice blog. And a beautiful home!

  16. What fascinating and beautiful things you have found...and they are so wonderfully photographed. Very pretty. Have a super day!

  17. This is a really fun filled post! I love all the cool treasures you collected. Enjoy the week!

  18. Hmmm, seems I've seen that little shadow puppet dude before...haha! Love that you're finding somewhere for all your travel treasures. Someday I'll come see it all together. It's on the list:) Miss ya...

  19. I find the most soul touching things on these pages. Thanks for sharing. Hope your day is great.

  20. Ahhhh, your home is so wonderful! So peaceful and creative! I have a few buddhas myself, and one of them holds a purse and the other has the word "LOVE" hanging round his neck in sparkly letters!
Your new alter is fabulous! They are such wonderful intention holders! I love them too.

Your comments enrich my soul. I love hearing from you.
