ALWAYS A LITTLE OUT OF SYNC....................

Because of the gypsy lifestyle I lead....it seems as though we are always a little out of sync with the seasons....not to mention the fact that it is always WARM in Arizona.

I'm looking for summer flowers while the rest of the county is settling in for wonderful fall weather followed by the wonderland of winter.

Sooooooo......since I live in perpetual sunshine half of the year I can incorporate vivid warm colors in my surroundings at anytime of the year.

I spent today adding some of my sweet finds of the summer into our little nest here in AZ.

Picked up the lantern in Texas and the rug is from Anthropologie.

Found this Flapper hat in a little shop in Oregon....thought it would be perfect for my Buddha.

Put an old crown on my Santo's statue.....I often change her hat....but this will do for now.

Shadow puppet from Bali.....found it in a ethnic shop in Park City.

Have been looking for an altar for quite some time.... so was lucky enough to find this one on-line while traveling this summer.  I fill it with meaningful photos and items that help me stay focused on the present.

I've posted before about needing to have spiritual items in my surroundings...they do seem to help me stay calm and focused.

Nothing wrong with that I say!!

Hope you enjoyed my little goodie display today.

Hugs,

Jo

    all very interesting items....
It is good to surround ourselves with memorable things I think, from trips or experiences...
things that make us smile when we look at them, or laugh. or put us in a "spiritual place"
    love it

  8. Dear Jo... I enjoy having an Altar in our Home and mine is actually a Vintage Jukebox covered with an Antique Belgian Cut Velvet Tablecloth and then has all the Religious Relics tiered on it... just the right shape & nobody is any the wiser that its actually what it is underneath. *Winks* Yes, our ultra warm weather has returned with a vengeance hasn't it, we had less than a week below 100 before it shot back up! Took the G-Kids to the opening day of the State Fair today & it really uplifted my mood... how can you NOT feel joyous and uplifted in the atmosphere of a Fair or Carnival, I love them! We stayed from Morning until Sundown and saw an amazing display called "Body Works" which the G-Kids found as fascinating as I did & oddly they weren't at all creeped out by it, extremely educational in fact. Thank you for stopping by my hissy fit Post *winks*, I felt ever so much better after having a good old fashioned rant, it was like a weight had been lifted, I agree, good hissy fits are so under-rated! *LOL* And I do mine so well, I'm a Natural I think?!? *Smiles*

  9. I bet Buddha never wore a hat before. :) Love the colors and your eclectic style. I am the same way with what I surround myself with. And I am definitely looking to start planting flowers and tomatoes and such, too. That's what you do in a desert country when cooler weather starts to settle in. In fact, that's what I just posted about yesterday and today's post is all about the flowers while everyone else is showing off their Fall leaves and pumpkins (something we can't get around here unless we pay an arm and a leg). Have a beautiful day. Tammy

  13. Lovely home you have! I love that you surround yourself with the things you love and also spiritual things. I think we need those things to remind us of our faith and that things are under control.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY......I'M GOING TO HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!

I turn 67 today.....and actually I feel better as the years accumulate.  Since I've gotten older I actually have decided that I will celebrate each day during the month of October...just being grateful for being healthy and alive.   I hope each one of you who follow this little blog of mine celebrate each day along with me.... Here are some of the things I have planned for my birthday month: 1.  Listing our current home the end of the first week in November.  We are pretty excited to be moving into a little smaller spot as it means less work and maintenance.  We just want to be able to live more and work less.  Although we still have not found our new spot.....we know it is out there.   2.  Taking a 15 day cruise on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Budapest.  We will visit 5 countries along the way.  One of the stops will be in the place I was born....Nuremberg, Germany.  My  family  left Germany right...

PUTTING ON MY GYPSY SHOES......................

Bo Bunny Paper Collection Well.......the coach is packed...the laundry done in the condo....and we will be on our way tomorrow. I often do feel like a gypsy moving from one spot to another....and each year my gratitude grows as I am able to continue this lifestyle. I truly would love to "do up" my coach in Gypsy Style...but alas....not too practical as things probably would be flying all over as we traveled down the road.  (O: But.....a girl can dream.....can't she? ~~~ My suitcase is packed with memories To be opened further down the road When my caravan must be halted The bag waits to be opened Stories to be told and shared Like the gypsy's of so long ago But for now....the wheels keep turning And my case grows larger still Waiting for the day..I must be stopped   And my heart, to the brim, will be filled Hugs from me to you, Jo Gypsy photos:  Electric Gipsyland on Flickr

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This is a picture of our little tree this year.  Each year our trees seem to be smaller, a function of our getting older and just wanting to deal with less stuff.  I'm sure a few of you feel them same.  Although it does seem to be a little weird that we want to deal with fewer Christmas decorations and give each other MORE STUFF in the way of presents under the tree.   Ahhh...being human is such a quandary sometimes!                                          MERRY CHRISTMAS                                                          Jo
